College of the Arts
The College of the Arts is a cultural center for Southern Utah. Our art shows, concerts, plays, dance performances, and other artistic endeavors are recognized as among the finest in the area, and you’re invited to take part in these activities. You could, for example, sing in Handel’s MESSIAH, act a leading role in a play, create artwork that is shown locally, or dance in a stage review.
For those of you interested in majoring in theatre, art, music, dance, or any related field, the courses you find in this department will form a solid, basic foundation for future study. These courses transfer well to in-state schools with very few exceptions. If you plan to major in these fields, come in to the college offices in the Delores Doré Eccles Fine Arts Center. Come introduce yourself and let one of the our highly qualified professors help you plan your education at Dixie State University.
Dixie’s general education program requires that you take one class in the Fine Arts area. Students enjoy courses in art, music, theatre, and dance and these courses are basic introductions to the topics. See the general education graduation requirements for a complete list.
