$250 fee for board exam is paid by student within 6 months of graduation and is not part of their program or course fees. This is a difficult cost for students to bear when they are no longer eligible for finanical aid and they are not working yet because they aren't certified.
Course Description
Prereq: SURG 1200 and BIOL 2320/2325. Course introduces students to more advanced surgical practices including surgical anatomy and procedures in the core surgical areas.
From their program handbook page 7: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be REQUIRED to take the NBSTSA exam within six months of graduation. Certificate of completion will not be awarded until exam is taken.
The purpose of the request to decrease the fee is to eliminate the $10 fee for the cost of a certificate that went to budget code ATE 305 to offset certificate costs (I assume it was for printing a nice certificate of completion). The program is now an AAS degree and so the students should not be charged for a certificate of completion.
