Judith and Gene Schneiter


Do you have good grades? Are you interested in serving as a representative for your program of study? If so, we’d like to give you a one-thousand dollar scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year!
Through a generous donation by Judith and Gene Schneiter, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences will select four outstanding students to serve as representatives for their programs of study.

Scholarship Application


To be considered for this scholarship during 2019-2020, students must be enrolled in one of the following programs of study:

  • Applied Sociology
  • American Sign Language
  • Communication Studies
  • English


  • Overall GPA of 3.0 (B) or higher
  • Program of study GPA of 3.3 (B+) or higher

Service Requirements

Scholarship recipients will serve as College of Humanities and Social Sciences Representatives (CHASSRs) for their areas of study. As a CHASSR, students are asked to serve in the following capacities:

  • Attend a minimum of three recruitment/outreach events per semester
  • Work closely with department chairs and the dean’s office to promote academic programs
  • Represent their area of study to the campus community, local community, and prospective students at local and regional high schools


Restrictions on this scholarship are as follows:

  • Stackable (on top of other scholarships) up to full instate tuition
  • Cannot be used to pay student fees
  • $500 awarded in the fall and $500 awarded in the spring


  • Application deadline: Friday October 4, 2019, at 11:59 pm
  • Scholarship committee review of applications: Mon. October 7 – Fri. October 11, 2019
  • Notification of acceptance letters sent out: Tues. October 15, 2019
  • Official CHASSR start date: Wed. October 16, 2019
